<dct:description><p>ABSTRACT</p> <p>Row plantation in Ethiopia can significantly increase wheat production and reduce seed consumption, thereby boosting the country&#39;s agricultural sector, which heavily relies on small holder farms. This study aims to assess the factors influencing the adoption of row planting technology among farmers in Dalocha Werada, Siltie Zone, Central Ethiopia, identify the factors influencing its intensity and identify major constraints preventing its adoption. A multi-stage sampling technique was used to select 140 wheat producers from three kebeles with high adoption rates of row planting technology. The research employed a cross-sectional study design, gathering data from primary and secondary sources, including official reports and structured household surveys. The analysis utilized descriptive statistics to summarize demographic and socio-economic variables, along with econometric models. The research used a double hurdle model to identify significant variables that influence wheat row planting technology adoption. The study found that out of 140 respondents, 48.57% adopted wheat row planting technology, with labor constraints being the main obstacle, affecting nearly half of respondents, leading to less efficient practices and increased manpower requirements. Distance from the market, Education levels, livestock ownership, access to credit, farm size, frequency of extension contact, and non-farm activity participation are key factors in the adoption decision. The study also revealed that market distance, education level, cooperative membership, access to improved seeds, training, and extension contact are important factors in extent of adoption. The analysis indicated that education, access to credit, access to improved seeds, cooperative membership, and extension service were pivotal in both the decision to adopt and the extent of adoption. To improve agricultural productivity and food security in Silte Zone, policymakers should implement interventions at three levels: input access, capacity building, and institutional support. These measures address key adoption barriers, such as market distance, education gaps, and weak cooperatives, while leveraging success factors.</p></dct:description>
