"description": "
ABSTRACT
\nThis quantitative study, utilizing an explanatory research design, investigated the key factors influencing employee commitment in the public health sector, focusing on Tefera Hailu Memorial Hospital and Sekota Woreda Health Centers. Data was collected from a sample of 212 employees using simple stratified proportional sampling techniques and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including Pearson correlation and regression analysis, through SPSS v.27. The Pearson correlation analysis revealed that the dependent variable (employee commitment) had a strongly positive correlation with the independent variables of career development (r=0.814), leadership style (r=0.775), and working environment (r=0.729), while performance appraisal had a moderately positive correlation (r=0.638). This indicates that all the independent variables were significantly correlated with employee commitment in the studied health facilities. Furthermore, the regression analysis findings highlighted the relative importance of these factors, with leadership style (β=0.400), career development (β=0.382), working environment (β=0.223), and performance appraisal (β=0.087) positively and significantly predicting employee commitment. Collectively, the four independent variables accounted for 83.9% of the variance in employee commitment, with the remaining 16.1% explained by other variables. The study recommends that the health sector should assess employee training needs, invest in capacity-building initiatives, and involve employees in the
\ndevelopment of strategic plans to enhance their commitment. Additionally, the health sector should review and align their policies and practices related to career development, leadership style, working environment, and performance appraisal to create a more committed and engaged workforce.
",
