Residual soils are generally used as fills in the construction of embankments in areas where residual soils are the dominant soil types, such as lateritic soil. The characteristics of lateritic soils are that they lose their shear strength under fully saturated conditions and their properties vary from region to region. The chemical composition and the environment influence the property of the soil. In such soils, the binding agent iron oxide changes its composition with time and in the presence of moisture. Failures of lateritic-based embankments have been observed, and found to be safe with a high safety factor. This study is carried out to investigate the stability of embankments with sudden loss of strength when they are completely saturated.</dc:description> <dc:identifier>https://zenodo.org/record/746</dc:identifier> <dc:identifier>10.20372/nadre:746</dc:identifier> <dc:identifier>oai:zenodo.org:746</dc:identifier> <dc:relation>doi:10.20372/nadre:745</dc:relation> <dc:rights>info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess</dc:rights> <dc:rights>http://www.opendefinition.org/licenses/cc-by</dc:rights> <dc:title>SLOPE STABILITY ANALYSIS OF LATERITIC SOILS IN CONSTRUCTION OF ROAD EMBANKMENTS (THE CASE OF NEJO-MENDI)</dc:title> <dc:type>info:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesis</dc:type> <dc:type>publication-thesis</dc:type> </oai_dc:dc>
