The latest financial crises have made risk management in banks a problem. For financial institutions, risk management has grown in importance; in particular, the business sector of financial services is linked to an unpredictable situation. In this thesis, the effect of risk management on the financial performance of the Ethiopian Development Bank is investigated. In order to better understand how risk management practices, affect financial performance, this research objective was developed. The 70 DBE employees at NEAAD who participated in the study were the study's target group, and the researcher used a descriptive and explanatory research design. Employee primary data was gathered, and data analysis employed multiple regressions. Additionally, secondary data was gathered from the manual of the particular bank as well as from published financial studies and findings. The financial performance of the Ethiopian Development Bank was found to be positively correlated with the management of credit risk, operational risk, liquidity risk, and market risk. Therefore, the study suggests that the Development Bank of Ethiopia manages risk effectively by providing adequate, periodic, and ongoing training to DBE staff members in order to familiarize them with credit risk management, operational risk management, liquidity risk management, and market risk management for DBE's success and performance. It also suggests that DBE conducts continuous project monitoring on ongoing projects in order to identify and detect potential risks.
