  "abstract": "<p>The study examined the determinants of households&rsquo; participation in nonfarm activities in Girar Jarso Woreda. The data for his study was collected from the farm households in the three selected kebeles. The results of the study which used binary logistic model indicate that age, literacy status, marital status, farm output, and distance from the nearest major market are the most significant factors that determine their participation. Moreover, the analysis revealed that the contribution of nonfarm activities to the household income is indispensable and it creates the income disparities between participants and nonparticipants. The study was also concluded with some recommendation like, promotion of rural industrial entrepreneurship through cooperatives and organization, promote and provide of training and incentives for existing nonfarm activities participants for great initiation, allocation of public utilities and infrastructures, organizing rural work program and rural work program are some of the forwarded recommendation.</p>",
