"abstract": "
Planning is done as an effort to strengthening for a RC column namely a confinement by
\nusing steel reinforcement. However, it has disadvantage that it cannot confine entire RC
\ncolumn and it could potentially increase the dead load of structure so that strength and
\nductility was not optimal. Steel ties reinforcement cannot provide superior confinement for
\nreinforced concrete (RC) columns due to constraints on tie spacing and disturbance of
\nconcrete continuity. Therefore investigating use of internally confined with glass fiber
\nreinforced polymer (GFRP) layers RC column is important for a RC column to achieve
\nmore strength and ductility than conventional RC column. This research investigated
\nExperimental study and Finite Element Analysis on Reinforced Concrete (RC) columns
\ninternally confined with GFRP layers in additional to regular tie reinforcement by
\nconsidering different parameter such as cross sectional shape of columns, area of columns,
\nGFRP-confined and unconfined specimens and number of internal GFRP layers.
\nIn this thesis, thirteen circular and nineteen square short column specimens were prepared
\non experimental program including control groups. Each shape of columns were group by
\ndifferent cross sectional area, FRP-confined and unconfined specimens and number of
\ninternal GFRP layers
",
