About half of world’s population is now at risk of DF. The 2014 DF outbreak in Godey Town Ethiopia is the first in Somali Region and similar outbreak was reported in DireDawa Ethiopia in 2013. We investigated suspected DF outbreak to verify the diagnosis and associated risk factors. Method: Descriptive study followed by (1:2) unmatched case-control study design was conducted. We collected data using structured questionnaires. We isolated DF virus using Polymerase Chain Reaction. We inspected mosquito larva in water container placed in indoors and outdoors of 150 households. We run a Bi variate and Multivariate test to identify risk factors. Result: we identified 101 cases with attack rate of 17/10,000 population, one death with case fatality rate of 1%. Of cases, (61%) was in males. Highest attack rate (29/10000) was in 15-44 years-old. Among 50 cases and 100 controls, No formal education (AOR= 4.23,95% CI (1.60-11.17), open containers (AOR=3.02, 95%,CI (1.22-7.48),Presence of Larvae in containers (AOR= 4.17, 95%, CI (1.66-10.51), wearing half sleeves shirts (AOR=3.29, 95%, CI (1.29-8.39) were associated risk factors whereas and LLINs usage (AOR= 0.21, 95%, CI (0.05-0.79)*were protective factor.
