The performance of a mixture of corncob ash and sawdust was evaluated based on laboratory test results on expansive soil collected from Addis Ababa around Bole cheife condominium area. The soil was initially characterized and classified based on index tests and found to be A-7-5 according to AASHTO and MH according to USCS systems. The effects of a mixture of corncob ash and sawdust on the engineering properties of the soil were evaluated by treating the soil with corncob ash and sawdust percentages of 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5% and 7% for each stabilizer by dry weight of the soil. The analysis of results showed reduction in plasticity index from 40 to 18%, MDD from 1.66 to 1.39 g/cm3, cohesion from 26.2 to 16.7 kpa , specific gravity from, 2.54 to 2.13 , CBR swelling and percentage of finer particles with all higher a mixture of corncob ash and sawdust contents and increase in the OMC , UCS, angle of internal friction and soaked CBR values. Generally, it was concluded from the results that a mixture of corncob as and sawdust can be used as a stabilizer</p>", "title": "A MIXTURE OF CORNCOB ASH AND SAWDUST USED AS ASTABILIZER OF EXPANSIVE SOIL", "type": "thesis", "id": "4632" }
