To analyse the determinants of household's choice among different livelihood
\nstrategies and the level of income diversity, multinomial logit model that corrects selection
\nbias was estimated for five distinct livelihood strategies. The effects of income diversification
\non rural equity and consumption insurance against idiosyncratic income shock were analysed
\nusing Gini decomposition technique and linear regression model, respectively.
\nThe results indicated that the asset endowment of the household has a significant effect on
\nhouseholds’ choice of livelihood strategy and the level of income diversity. They also show
\nthat the effect of asset on livelihood choice and income diversity is dependent on the type of
\nasset as well as on the particular livelihood strategy. Empirical evidences revealed that farm
\nland holding, distant to market, involvement in cash crop production, ox holding, use of
\nagricultural extension and possession of senior secondary education by head lower the
\nlikelihood of involvement in livelihood diversification
", "license": { "id": "cc-by" }, "title": "THE DETERMINANTS AND IMPACTS OF INCOME DIVERSIFICATION IN RURAL ETHIOPIA: THE CASE OF COMMUNITTIES IN SOUTHERN NATIONS, NATIONALITIES, AND PEOPLES REGIONAL STATE", "relations": { "version": [ { "count": 1, "index": 0, "parent": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "4261" }, "is_last": true, "last_child": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "4262" } } ] }, "communities": [ { "id": "aau" }, { "id": "zenodo" } ], "publication_date": "2003-07-01", "creators": [ { "name": "DEMISSIE DAMITE" } ], "access_right": "open", "resource_type": { "subtype": "thesis", "type": "publication", "title": "Thesis" }, "related_identifiers": [ { "scheme": "doi", "identifier": "10.20372/nadre:4261", "relation": "isVersionOf" } ] } }
