The grid electricity could not
\nreach many areas due to inaccessibly related to remoteness. Solar energy, a resource widely
\navailable throughout the country, is also not utilized. Accordingly, this study tries to identify
\nlimits on technical and social benefits of solar photovoltaic technologies in Ethiopia thereby its
\nuse to increase electricity access. Thus we assess factors affecting the dissemination activities,
\nsuch as solar PV installation practices, Solar Home and institutional system distribution
\nstrategies, system failures and their causes. To conduct this research, we performed desk
\nreviews, Key informant interview, focus group discussions and field surveys. In addition, we
\nanalyzed the impact of PV orientation by comparing simulation result made by PVsyst software
\nat various angles observed during field survey. One Kebles from each four regions, namely
\nSNNPR, Amhara, Oromia and Tigrai regions were selected, where about 20 households were
\nsurveyed. In doing so, Factors affecting the dissemination activities as well as best orientation
\nwere able to be determined. The study also assess that, how Availability of replacement and
\nmaintenance, lack of Public awareness creation and institutional problems, tariff and shortage
\nof market can affect the accessibility and large scale distribution of PV system
", "license": { "id": "cc-by" }, "title": "Optimizing the Technical and Social Benefits of Solar Photovoltaic Technologies in Ethiopia.", "relations": { "version": [ { "count": 1, "index": 0, "parent": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "2931" }, "is_last": true, "last_child": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "2932" } } ] }, "communities": [ { "id": "aau" }, { "id": "zenodo" } ], "publication_date": "2016-11-01", "creators": [ { "name": "Abadi Tesfay Yohanes" } ], "access_right": "open", "resource_type": { "subtype": "thesis", "type": "publication", "title": "Thesis" }, "related_identifiers": [ { "scheme": "doi", "identifier": "10.20372/nadre:2931", "relation": "isVersionOf" } ] } }
