  "abstract": "<p>Road infrastructure is considered a large and vital public asset that requires careful upkeep throughout its lifetime. Demand for road construction often leads to the development of other infrastructure and significantly outnumbers the supply. Designing, constructing, operating, maintaining, and deconstructing road infrastructure in a way that balances the sociological, economic, and environmental considerations. The study\"s objective was to identify and examine the city of Wolita Sodo&#39;s road infrastructure&#39;s sustainability and challenges. The study used a qualitative and quantitative research approach, primary and secondary data were used and it was a descriptive and mixed research design. The data collection instrument was questionnaires, interviews, focus group discussion, and document review. Primary and secondary data sources were used in the study. The findings of this study revealed that major economic, social, and environmental sustainability dimension of road infrastructure development was trouble and the major challenges identified were: the disintegration of road and utility infrastructure; road design, construction, and maintenance; weak institutional integration and coordination; topography of the city contribute traffic accidents to happen; land development plan problem to implement road design as required standards and less accountability of professionals as well as an administrative body. Due to all these and other factors, the road infrastructure in the city was not satisfactorily sustainable; because the concept of sustainability is broad in dimension. The prospects of the analysis indicate that road infrastructure sustainability remains to be more challenging shortly.</p>",
