"abstract": "<p>The importance of health as a key aspect of development and economic wellbeing of individuals and nations is increasingly being recognized in the world. Accordingly, the main objective of this study is to investigate determinants of out-of-pocket health care expenditure and health centre visit among household in Addis Ababa. To realize the objective data from 168 respondents living in Arda sub-city worda 10 was collected using simple random sampling technique. Toanalyse the data collected both descriptive and econometric model were used.As econometric model Logit and Tobit model were employed.The finding from Logit model revealed that sex, marital status, education level, age and income of the household significantly affected towards the household health centre visit in the sample households. From the Tobit regression result revealed that sex, marital status, education level, age, occupation and income of the household significantly affects households out -of- pocket health care expenditure in the study area. As healthcare behaves as a necessity good, Government’s real commitment is very crucial in planning and investing in health sector.</p>",
