<dct:description><p>Poverty is detrimental to development, and therefore an issue that needs to be dealt with. NGOs play a vital role in combating poverty on multiple levels. One of the most important things is having competent leadership when putting NGOs&#39; initiatives to fight poverty into practice. The main goal of the research is to evaluate how several leadership philosophies&mdash;transformational, transactional, and laissez-faire&mdash;affect the ability of NGOs in Ethiopia&#39;s Harar area to reduce poverty. The study used a contemporaneous triangulation mixed method design using both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies. Stratified sampling was used to get survey data from 124 respondents in total. In addition, 7 leaders and subordinates from selected NGOs were purposefully selected to collect data from the interview. Validity and reliability tests were conducted to check the consistency and dependability of the instrument, and all included factors proven to be reliable by the Cranach&rsquo;s alpha result of above the minimum value of level of acceptance. The study revealed that NGO leaders of the study area highly practice transformational leadership style and also based on the situation they choose and practice appropriate leadership style for the situation that would enable them to effectively perform their leadership duties and responsibilities. The study also revealed that transformational leadership style has a positive and significant relationship (r= 0.675, p &lt; 0.01) with poverty reduction practices of the organizations. Data analysis results through regression show that the most remarkable leadership style that has strong significant effect on poverty reduction practices in study area is transformational leadership style with coefficient of beta (&beta;1=0.514, at p&gt;0.05). Finally, it was suggested that leaders at NGOs in study area should practice transformational leadership style to be effective in their poverty reduction activities<br> &nbsp;</p></dct:description>
