Assessment of Local Government Service Delivery of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation (In Case of Jigjiga City Administration, Eastern Ethiopia)

The main objective of the study is to Assess Local Government Service Delivery of Drinking Water Supply and Sanitation In Case of Jigjiga City Administration, Eastern Ethiopia. Regarding to research methodology; the researcher employed descriptive research design with both qualitative and quantitative data type. The researcher employed proportional stratified sampling, purposive sampling and convenient sampling for sample selection to households and officials. To achieve the objective of the study a total of 383 household heads samples were randomly selected. Interview, close and open ended questionnaires, and observation employed for data collection. Additionally, different documents from secondary sources were reviewed. The analysis conducted using SPSS for the study. Regarding the service delivery of water supply and sanitation nepotism, faulty governance, lack of accountability, transparency, integrity, corruption and incredible reporting mechanism and poor sanitary mechanism were found to be the manifestation of the ill administration of the water supply and sanitation sector. In line with this, the study result also indicated 76% of households were not satisfied with the existing water supply and sanitation services of the city. Eventually, the study forwarded a recommendation which was given based on the findings and conclusion of the study.
