    <subfield code="a">&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;ABSTRACT&lt;/strong&gt;: Medicinal plants and knowledge of their uses provides a vital contribution to human being health care needs throughout Ethiopia. Despite the wide role of medicinal-plant use by local communities, traditional utilization and management practices are not well documented in Aleta-Chuko woreda, Southern Ethiopia. The objectives of this study were to identify wild and home garden medicinal plants and document indigenous knowledge about their utilization and practices in the study area. Ethnobotanical data were collected using semi-structured questionnaires, key informant interviews and field walk on vegetation&amp;rsquo;s and fields of the study area.Ethnobotanical uses of trees, shrubs and herbs were identified and documented to treat human diseases. In this study atotal of 81 medicinal plant species distributed in 75 genera and 45 families were identified. From these 42 (51.85%) species were collected from wild, 35 (43.2%) species were collected from homegardens and the rest 4 (5%) were collected from fence and road side. The 81 recorded plant species have medicinal values for 46 types of different health problems. Oral adminstration were widely used (68.1%), followed by dermal applications (23%).The most widely used plant parts is Leaves(38.4%) than roots(14.1%), stems(3.1%), seeds and flowers(4%) in respective order. The study&amp;rsquo;s results indicated that wild medicinal plants are valuable resources to the local community. Accordingly, the majority of the population that lives in the rural and the poor people in urban areas rely mainly on traditional medicines to meet their primary health care needs. Thus, wild medicinal plants contain the highest collection (52%) than the homegarden (40.7%). In the preparation method pounding takes the highest (31.1%), chewing (20.5%) and rubbing, painting and creaming together (9.8%). In the study 80 informants and 20 key informants totally 100 local community members participated in the study area.&lt;/p&gt;</subfield>
