"description": "<p>ABSTRACT Presence of dyes in the aquatic systems has become a serious environmental problem. Concerning the environmental awareness and the economical point of view, the use of low cost and eco-friendly adsorbents has been investigated as an ideal alternative to the current expensive methods of removing textile dyes from wastewater. To develop porous carbon, corncob was activated by chemical activation agent using H3PO4. The physicochemical characterization of the activated carbon was done by proximate analysis and iodine number. The effects of various parameters such as acid concentration, impegrination, carbonization temperature and activation time during activated carbon production were optimized. Their structural characterization also determined by XRD and FT-IR analysis. UV was used for the determination and monitoring of Dye ion concentration. The parameters were adsorbent dose, pH, contact time and Initial dye concentration. The optimum conditions for corn cobs activated carbon preparation were determined as impregnation ratio of 1.5, carbonization temperature of 450oC, activation time of 120min, and acid concentration 65% by weigh. Batch adsorption was conducted to evaluate optimum condition which were optimum conditions of (pH = 10, adsorbent dosage = 0.3g and 0.2g, contact time = 150 and 120 minutes and initial of MG concentration = 10 mg/L) using PCC and ACC respectively. The sorption characteristic has been examined using various sorption conditions. It was found that the sorption process was very rapid; the equilibrium time was obtained at 120 min for PCC and 150 min in the case of ACC. The sorption yield increases with the increase of sorbent dosage with an optimum at 0.3g and 0.2g for PCC and ACC respectively. The optimum sorption was obtained at basic pH medium. The dye removal performance of ACC was compared with PCC. In order to understand the mechanism of the adsorption process, the sorption data were analyzed using Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models. The Langmuir model provides the best correlation of the experimental equilibrium data. Finally, the rate of the adsorption process was investigated using&nbsp;Pseudo-first order kinetics and Pseudo second-order kinetic models. Pseudo second-order kinetic model was found to be well fitted to the data obtained.</p>",
