    "description": "<p>MAJOR ADVISOR: PROF. RADHA KRISHNA MURTHY</p>\n\n<p>This study seeks to examine Assessment of good governance: In case of Sude District Health Centers. In order to achieve this objective descriptive survey design was employed. Four health centers have been selected in simple random sampling technique among seven existing health centers for the purpose of this study. The samples of the study were 68 supportive 84 technical workers and 40 patients. The sampling techniques were availability sampling for both supportive and technical workers and convenience (accidental) sampling for patients. In order to collect data, the researcher used questionnaire, interviews and document analysis. Questionnaires were distributed to 152 respondents and all 68 supportive workers and 84 technical workers were properly filled and returned. In addition to this, 40 patients were interviewed and document reviews was made. To analyse the data, both quantitative and qualitative methods were employed. Among the quantitative methods frequency, percentage, mean score and t-test were used. The qualitatively data were analyzed by narrating, interpreting and reflecting on key points in words. The results of analysis showed that good governance was prevalent in health centers only in light of the two core good governance principles namely accountability and consensus orientation. The rest six core elements of good governance are not prevalent in Sude District health centers. Moreover, lack of commitment and concern on the part of health center management, appointing managers of health center politically rather than their experience and knowledge, lack of adequate training, availability of resources and decision making towards health center, were identified as major challenges of health center assessment good governance. Based on these finding, it is concluded as practices of leadership practice on good governance is not effective in health centers of Sude District. Thus, it was recommended that providing short and long term training for health center leaders on leadership knowledge has a positive effect on good governance and health centers should establish framework that follows up and evaluates the implementation of good governance. Lastly, it is advised that health sectors should appoint managers of health centers by their experience and knowledge rather than political attitude.</p>\n\n<p>Key words: Assessment, Good governance, health centers.</p>",
