Since wheel and rail suffers from various interacting mechanical and thermal<br>\nforces, friction modifiers, various contaminants and environmental atmosphere, wear poses large<br>\nProblem on wheel and rail.<br>\nWheel and rail wear can be result in an extensive cost for truck owner, if it is not predicated and<br>\nprevented in an efficient way. To limit these costs, one measure is to predicate and prevent wheel<br>\nand rail wear through wear modeling.<br>\nThe purpose of this research is to investigate the wear analysis on wheel / rail in rolling and<br>\nsliding contact using CATIA V5 R16 software and ANSYS 16.0 Workbench. The wear of the<br>\nwheels has been studies on stress structure as result and the analysis is done for two wheels<br>\nhaving different material composition (that is Bainitic steel which is new material and R7 which<br>\nis using by Ethiopian Light Railway Transit AALRT)<br>\nUsing stress output as input for structural analysis different stress concentration are observed<br>\nThe result obtained for the two wheels shows that wheel two has excellent hardness, strength and<br>\nhave good resistance wear<br>\nTherefore, Bainitic steel can be applied to wheels in railway system</p>", "title": "A Thesis`s progress submitted to the School of Graduate Studies of Addis Ababa University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Masters of Science in Railway Mechanical Engineering", "type": "thesis", "id": "1353" }
