"description": "<p>Abstract</p>\n\n<p>Nowadays, the increasing number of rural-urban migration is one of the critical problems facing Ethiopia particularly in urban area. Most of researchers conducted, research focus on the major impacts of rural-urban migration from a different point of view and most of them have not adequately described rural-urban migration and its effect on employment. In light of this problem, the main objective of this study was to assess the effect of rural-urban migration on employment in Werabe town. To achieve the specified objective cross sectional study design used, the study participants were selected based on snowball and convenience sampling method, as well as both primary and secondary data sources were used. The primary data was collected from two selected urban Kebeles of the town by using purposive sampling techniques through a structured questionnaire from 352 samples of respondents. Instruments like questionnaire, key informants interview and FGDs were employed. To analyze the collected data both quantitative and qualitative methods were used. Quantitative data analyzed by using descriptive statistics with the help of the software SPSS whereas the qualitative data analyzed by narration. The collected data were analysis to performed using percentage, table, figures and charts. The result revealed that among the total respondents about 58.2% were unemployed and 41.8% of the respondents were employed. A binary logistic regression model was employed to show the relationship between independent variables and dependent variable. The finding indicated that the majority of migrants were male adult, less educated and many of them were single .Factors of migration like economic, environmental, lack of employment opportunities, inaccessibility of infrastructures, large family size & missed information about jobs found to be the major push factors for migration. On the other hand, presence of better job opportunities, an ambition of migrants to live a better life and the influence of preceding migrants to be identified as the major pull factors for migration. Many of them encountered problem (socioeconomic impacts) that migrates at the area of destination. Based on the finding, it is recommend to stakeholders should improve rural living standard by providing different activities in order to minimize rural- urban migration . </p>",
