<dct:description>
Ethiopia is facing rapid urbanization leading to overcrowding and the development of slums and informal settlements with poor waste management practices. Urban dwellers generally consume more resources than rural dwellers, and so generate huge quantities of domestic solid wastes. This study is focused on the overall impacts of domestic solid waste

management on environmental sanitation existing of Adaba town. The general objective of this study was to examining the impacts of domestic solid waste management on environmental sanitation: The case of Adaba town. In order to achieve this objective, both quantitative and qualitative research methods were used. Descriptive survey design was used. The town has of two village(01and 02 village) of the study area. O2 village was selected by purposive non random sampling techniques, presence of high accumulation of domestic solid waste and accessibility of data about domestic solid waste management. The total numbers of population are by 2019 are 4198.From this, 2037 men and 2161 are women. In order to select the representative samples from a given population, a Yemane (1967) formula was used. Both probability and non- probability sampling techniques were used to select samples from a given population. Simple random techniques and purposive non probability sampling techniques were employed. Data for this research were collected from both primary and secondary sources. Questionnaire, interview, and observation were used as data gathering instruments. Both quantitative and qualitative techniques of data analysis were employed. The result of this study revealed that the present system of MDSWM in Adaba town entirely relied on the municipality which provided the full range of waste collection, transportation and disposal service. This study concluded that, there should be sustainable domestics solid waste management systems through awareness creation and training, improvement of SB institutional structure and capacity, and implementation of integrated MDSWM approach

viii

which recognizes and comprises all stakeholders in the town. The main recommendation of this study was promoting door-to-door collection systems by private or community-based waste collectors which could contribute in improvements of domestic solid waste management. And the city administration should focus c technologies and increasing the capacity of the informal sector participating in waste management. 5
</dct:description>
