The current study was conducted on the title Distribution and Population Status of Large and Medium Size Mammals in Shawe kebele Harenna Buluk District Bale Zone Oromia Region South East Ethiopian. with the objective to identify the distribution and population status of Medium and large size mammal&rsquo;s in Shawe kebele Harenna Buluk District The study covered two seasons to accommodate the dry season and wet Season the study was conducted during February to march 2023 and April 2023 to May 2023 respectively. The study blocks were grouped into five major habitat types. Riverine forest(R), natural forest (NF), bush land (BL) wood land (WL) and Grassland (GL) habitats. Five Transect line was made for one study habitat. A total of 25 randomly laid transect line was made for both seasons and all study habitat. The total number, length, and width of line transects were determine by the size and topography of the sites. A total of 1027 of individual mammals 489 dry and 538 wet seasons&rsquo; comprised of 16 species in 6 orders and 9 families record during the time of data Collection. Among the identified species, 5 species (Serval cat, Wild cat, Common jackal, Velvet monkey and Starks hare) were medium-sized mammals while the remaining were large-sized mammals. The mammalian species recorded from Shawe kebele Harenna Buluk District can be compared with similar studies in different parts of Ethiopia .Among the 1027 individuals of medium and large sized mammals recorded in the Wet and Dry season, the most abundant species was Olive Baboon by 229 (22.298%) and Aardvack 2 (0.194 %) were the least abundant by 2 species in the study area. Grassland habitat was 345 species recorded and also habitat which high species was record and the least species was record in bush land habitat with 82 species in a both season. In the Conclusion findings of this study revealed that, the differences in distribution and population status might be due to difference in vegetation cover and other biotic and a biotic factor. The following recommendations are suggested to ensure long term conservation of mammalian species in the study area.</p>

<p>Endemic mammals like Mountain nyala , menelik"s bushbuck ,stark hare and other need attention from the concerned body. The human activities such as hunting, cultivation, timber production and livestock grazing would have a greater impact on the diversity, abundance distribution and population status of medium and large sized mammals in the study area. It is therefore wise to take immediate measures to minimize the problems. The effort of local communities, local and regional authorities and federal organization in conservation should continue uninterrupted&nbsp; 5</p></subfield>
