However, there are significant variations in actual practice of planning human resources and associated problems in companies which are being engaged in various business activities. The main objective of this study was to examine the current practices and challenges of human resource planning in the education sector of Eastern Bale Zone specifically in 8 Woreda&rsquo;s Education Sector offices. The data was collected from HR managers, Office Heads and expert staff. As to research design, descriptive research design was used in the study area. Total of 83 sample respondents were selected from 8 woredas education office&rsquo;s employees population data by using Purposive sampling techniques. Questionnaire and interviews were instruments of data collections for the study. The collected quantitative data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics mainly percentages, mean, standard and deviations were used to analyze the data via use of analyzing tools spss v.25. The qualitative data were also analyzed using interviews instrument. The results from this study revealed that, the practices of human resource planning were not properly implemented in selected department of Education Offices of the Zone. Because majority of the heads in the sector lack the necessary knowledge and skill of planning using different techniques and lacks setting clear and measurable performance standards so as to plan and evaluate their human resources needs. The implications of the study suggest that having HRP in place was conducive to improve the competitiveness of the organization. This calls for researchers and those interested in the study to give particular attention to the development of the skills and competencies of HRP professionals including the skills needed to explore the ways that HRP was used to achieve competitive advantage. Further, in order to facilitate the effective implementation of HRP, efforts like, allocating sufficient budget for training to improve capacity building in the education office pertaining to human resource planning and Conducting continuous training and development for staff by Education sector heads should be made to prepare Education Sector as well as public organization in terms of their culture, policies, rules and regulations.7</p></description> </descriptions> </resource>
