<dct:description><p>Abstract</p> <p>This study, the welfare impact of community based health insurance scheme in Amhara region: evidence from north wollo zone, delves into the determinants and impacts of household membership in Community-Based Health Insurance Schemes (CBHIS) through comprehensive data analysis. The research involved 385 household heads, with a majority being members of the CBHIS. Key findings indicate significant associations between membership and socio-economic variables such as gender, marital status, education, and illness history. Logistic regression models reveal critical determinants affecting enrollment, including family size, trust, distance from health centers, and illness history. Furthermore, the study employs an Endogenous Switching Regression model to assess the impact of CBHIS on household income and assets. The results demonstrate that CBHIS membership have a mixed impact on household indicators. On one hand, it have a positive influences on household real asset levels and on the other hand it doesn&rsquo;t improve the household income of beneficiaries. Therefore targeting approach will be important to identify the most vulnerable portion of the society and mitigation strategies of service delivery system to reduce waiting time will be fruitful.</p></dct:description>
