It
\ncan be cast in any desired shape and fashion and should be workable whether on- site or in ready mix
\nconcrete production. To achieve better performance and desired proprieties of concrete, the use of
\nchemical admixtures is priceless choice in concrete production. While, there are common problems
\nfacing to optimize superplasticzer dosage with various types of cement to produce desirable
\nproperties of fresh and hardened concrete due to lack of practices in construction industry in our
\ncountry.
\nThe purpose of this research was determining optimum Superplasticizer dosage for desired
\nworkability using Marsh Cone Test at pre-determined water cement ratio. It was also analysis the
\neffect and influences of Superplasticizer dosage on concrete properties. Slump Cone test and testing
\nmachine were used to determine such properties of concrete. The first conclusion that was drawn
\nfrom the research was deciding optimum dosage on cement slurry which was prepared using different
\ntypes of Super plasticizer and Cements for variable water cement ratio. Secondly, the test were
\ncarried out to see effects of Superplasticizer dosage on improvement of workability and flowablity of
\nfresh concrete in specified doses. Also, it was also noticed changes of hardened concrete properties
\nusing mechanical tests.
\nUsing 0.45 and 0.40 water-cement ratio, optimum dosage of Superplasticizer (ODS) has found out,
\nwith respect to different Superplasticzers on different brand of cement paste mix.
\nSecondly, it also observed the effect of superplasticzer dosage for pre- determined quantity (0.5%,
\n1.0%, 1.5% and 2.0%) on hardened concrete strength in addition to fresh concrete characteristics.
\nThirdly, the demand of water reduced by 20%, 23%, 27% and 30% from total mix water using
\n0.5%,1.0%,1.5% and 2.0% of Superplasticizer respectively in concrete mix.
\nGenerally, Superplasticzer is playing vitally role to achieve better physical properties and quality of
\nconcrete, and resolving challenges in undesirable conditions during concrete work operations. Despite
\nthese facts, over dosage of SP were found to deteriorate the properties of concrete with indication of
\nlower compressive strength and higher porosity due to bleeding and segregation occurrences.
", "doi": "10.20372/nadre/4499", "keywords": [ "Superplasticizer, dosage, cement, concrete strength, a ready-mixed concrete." ], "language": "eng", "license": { "id": "cc-by" }, "publication_date": "2020-01-14", "related_identifiers": [ { "identifier": "10.20372/nadre/4498", "relation": "isVersionOf", "scheme": "doi" } ], "relations": { "version": [ { "count": 1, "index": 0, "is_last": true, "last_child": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "4499" }, "parent": { "pid_type": "recid", "pid_value": "4498" } } ] }, "resource_type": { "subtype": "thesis", "title": "Thesis", "type": "publication" }, "thesis": { "supervisors": [ { "affiliation": "ADDIS ABABA SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY", "name": "BELACHEW ASTERAY (PH.D.)" } ], "university": "ADDIS ABABA SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY" }, "title": "OPTIMIZATION OF SUPERPLASTICIZER DOSAGE AND EFFECTS WITH LOCALLY PRODUCED CEMENTS ON READY-MIX CONCRETE PROPERTIES" }, "owners": [ 3 ], "revision": 2, "stats": { "downloads": 88.0, "unique_downloads": 71.0, "unique_views": 41.0, "version_downloads": 88.0, "version_unique_downloads": 71.0, "version_unique_views": 41.0, "version_views": 67.0, "version_volume": 345171816.0, "views": 67.0, "volume": 345171816.0 }, "updated": "2020-02-13T09:34:54.470006+00:00" }
