VALUE CHAIN ANALYSIS OF MANGO: THE CASE OF SIMADA DISTRICT

The study was conducted to achieve the main objective of mango Value chain in the study area. About 52 respondents of mango value chain actors were selected randomly from four keeled administration of Simada woreda. The study employed both qualitative and quantitative type of data. Primary data were collected by close ended and open Questionnaires, personal interview; focus group discussion and key informant interview and the secondary data were taken from different written. The collected data were analyzed by using stasticial tools like mean, standard devation, frequency, tables and percentage methods. The study has indicated that direct actors along mango value chain include producers, wholesalers, retailers and consumers and also indirect actors such as extension service providers, credit and saving service. From the research I summarize 72.7% of mango was produced by males and some of the respondents were females (27.3%). In the study area household heads more tend to be males and also most of the practicing in production of mango was by males. From this I recommend female should participate in mango production and the government and other concerned body should play a great roll in order to improve quality of mango production, input supply and income in the study area.
